I'm a Washington, DC-based voice teacher, speech-language pathologist, and singing voice specialist. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Converse University, where I graduated summa cum laude with distinction in performance, and a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from The George Washington University.Â
A classically trained soprano, I have performed with the Atlanta Opera Studio and as a Soprano Core Member of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra Chorus. My background as both a singer and a singing voice specialist informs my work with professional and pre-professional singers, active amateur singers, and experienced adults returning to singing.
I offer virtual private voice lessons in classical, opera, musical theatre, and pop, including audition and performance preparation.
I approach voice teaching with curiosity rather than judgment. I believe there is no single "correct" way to sing and I work collaboratively with each singer to understand their individual voice, expand the choices available to them, and pursue their own musical and artistic goals.
My teaching is responsive to the individual singer rather than a prescribed method or aesthetic. Lessons are a place to experiment, ask questions, and explore unfamiliar sounds without the pressure to get everything right on the first try. I especially enjoy helping singers explore unfamiliar parts of their voices, discover new stylistic possibilities, and develop the awareness and problem-solving skills to make increasingly independent choices in their singing.
As we discover what works for you, my aim is to help you understand those discoveries - so you can bring greater independence and confidence to your singing beyond our lessons.
I look forward to learning what matters to you and helping you explore what your voice can do.
